How to create a new strategy
Here's how to create a new repricing strategy from scratch:
- Go to Strategies in the sidebar.
- Click Create Strategy.
- Select the channel you want to create the strategy for. The wizard adapts its steps based on the channel you choose, since each channel has different pricing modes and features.
- The strategy wizard opens. Follow the steps below to configure your strategy.
The strategy wizard
The wizard walks you through a series of steps, one at a time. The number of steps varies by channel type:
- Marketplace channels: typically 6 steps (Basics, Pricing, Price Floor, Safety Nets, Rounding, Preview). Some channels include additional steps, such as B2B Pricing for Amazon Business accounts.
- Storefront channels: typically 5 steps (Basics, Pricing, Safety Nets, Rounding, Preview). The Price Floor step is skipped because cost-based pricing inherently protects margins.
You can move back and forth between steps at any point before saving.
Step 1: Basics
Give your strategy a name and an optional description. Then choose which channel region this strategy applies to (for example, amazon.com, walmart.ca, or your-store.myshopify.com). For a deeper look at these settings, see Strategy Basics.
Step 2: Pricing
This is the heart of your strategy. For marketplace channels, configure how the repricer should compete: choose your competition target (Buy Box Price, Lowest Overall, etc.), your pricing mode (Beat by + Win Buy Box, Beat by, Match exactly, or Stay above by), and the beat amount or percentage. For Amazon strategies, you can also set up competitor filters to exclude certain seller types. For storefront channels, choose between ROI, Profit Margin, or Fixed Profit and optionally configure the compare-at price. See Pricing Settings for all the details.
Step 3: Price Floor (marketplace only)
Define how your minimum price is calculated. You can calculate it from your cost (using an ROI or Profit Margin target), or set it manually on each listing. This step is skipped for storefront strategies. See Price Floor.
Step 4: B2B Pricing (Amazon only)
This step only appears for Amazon strategies when your seller account has Amazon Business (B2B) enabled. Configure automated pricing for business buyers, including B2B-specific competition targets, discount modes, and a separate B2B price floor. See Amazon Business Pricing.
Step 5: Safety Nets
Configure profit protection rules so the repricer never sells below your desired margin. Set MAP/MSRP compliance rules, fallback behavior for when no competitor data is available (marketplace strategies only), and optionally limit repricing to a schedule. See Safety Nets.
Step 6: Rounding
Choose how prices should be rounded for a clean, professional appearance. For example, you might want all your prices to end in .99 or .95. See Rounding Rules.
Final step: Preview and Save
Review all your settings in one place. You'll see a summary of every configuration choice you made. When everything looks good, click Save to create your strategy.
Good to know
- You can go back to any step at any time before saving. Nothing is committed until you click Save.
- If you navigate away before saving, you'll see a warning about unsaved changes so you don't accidentally lose your work.
- After creating a strategy, don't forget to assign it to your listings. A strategy that isn't assigned to any listings won't do anything.
- You need the Owner, Admin, or Manager role to create strategies. Analysts can view existing strategies but can't create or edit them. See Roles and Permissions.
