What the Profitability Report shows
The Profitability Report analyzes margins, fees, and estimated profit across your listings. It helps you understand which products are profitable, where marketplace fees eat into your margins, and how your overall return on investment looks.
Open it from the Reports dashboard by clicking the Profit card.
Important: Only listings that have cost data (COGS) are included in this report. Listings without cost information will not appear. Make sure to keep your cost data up to date, either by editing listings individually or by using the Import module to upload costs in bulk.
Overview
Margins, fees, and estimated profit across your listings.
The Overview section displays 8 key performance indicators (KPIs) in two rows of cards.
Row 1
- Avg. Margin. The average profit margin across all listings that have cost data. Each listing's individual margin is calculated as
(Price - Cost - Fees) / Price x 100, then all listings are averaged together. - Est. Profit. The total estimated profit across all listings. Calculated as
Total Revenue - Total Cost - Total Fees. Shows an up/down trend indicator based on whether the value is positive or negative. - Total Fees. The sum of all marketplace fees (referral fees + FBA fulfillment fees) across all listings.
- Profitable. The count of listings with positive estimated profit, shown as "X of Y" where Y is the total number of listings with cost data. A listing is considered profitable when
Price - Cost - Fees > 0.
Row 2
- Avg. Profit/Unit. The average estimated profit per listing. Total estimated profit divided by the number of listings with cost data.
- Fee Rate. Marketplace fees as a percentage of total revenue across all listings. Calculated as
Total Fees / Total Revenue x 100. - Profit Margin. The overall profit margin calculated from aggregate totals:
Total Est. Profit / Total Revenue x 100. This is different from Avg. Margin because it weighs higher-revenue listings more heavily. Shows an up/down trend indicator. - ROI. Return on Investment. Total estimated profit as a percentage of total cost:
Total Est. Profit / Total Cost x 100. Shows an up/down trend indicator.
Note: "Avg. Margin" averages each listing's individual margin percentage, while "Profit Margin" is computed from aggregate totals. These two values can differ when listings have varying price levels.
Margin Distribution
Number of listings in each margin range.
A horizontal bar chart that groups all listings into four margin buckets based on each listing's individual profit margin percentage:
- Negative (<0%). Listings that are losing money after costs and fees.
- Low (0-15%). Listings with slim profit margins.
- Medium (15-25%). Listings with moderate profitability.
- High (25%+). Listings with strong profit margins.
Each bar shows the number of listings and the percentage of total listings in that range.
Daily Profitability
Revenue, cost, fees, and profit by day.
A table with daily profitability data, sorted by most recent date first. Each row represents one day in the selected time range.
- Date. The calendar date.
- Revenue. Total sales revenue for that day, converted to your display currency.
- Orders. Total number of orders for that day.
- Profit. Estimated profit for the day, calculated by applying the average margin rate from your current listings to the day's revenue.
- Margin. Estimated profit margin percentage for that day, based on the overall average margin rate from your current listings.
- ROI. Estimated return on investment for that day, based on the average cost and margin rates from your current listings.
Note: Daily profitability values are estimates. They are calculated by applying the average cost-to-revenue and fee-to-revenue ratios from your current listings to each day's actual revenue. They are not exact per-order calculations. Days without sales data show zeros, and all dates in the selected range are shown.
By Listing
Profitability breakdown for each product.
A paginated table showing per-product profitability data. By default, listings are sorted by profit margin from highest to lowest. You can choose to display 25, 50, or 100 rows per page.
- SKU. The seller's SKU identifier for the product.
- Product Title. The product name.
- Price. The current listed price in the product's native currency.
- Cost. The cost of goods (COGS) you entered for this product.
- Fees. Total marketplace fees for this product (referral fee + FBA fulfillment fee).
- Profit. Estimated profit per unit:
Price - Cost - Fees. - Margin. Profit margin percentage:
(Price - Cost - Fees) / Price x 100. Positive values are shown in green, negative values in red. - ROI. Return on investment percentage:
(Price - Cost - Fees) / Cost x 100. Positive values are shown in green, negative values in red.
Where the data comes from
Profitability is calculated using three data sources:
- Selling price. Your current listed price, pulled from your sales channel.
- Product cost. The cost you enter for each listing in the Listings page or via the Import module. This should include your product cost, shipping to your fulfillment center, prep fees, and any other per-unit expenses.
- Estimated channel fees. Repricing.app estimates referral fees and fulfillment fees based on the product's category, dimensions, and channel. These are estimates and may vary slightly from your actual channel statements.
Taking action on profitability insights
- Negative or near-zero margins? Raise the price floor for those listings or increase their minimum price. It's better to lose the Buy Box temporarily than to sell at a loss.
- High margin but low sales? The price might be too high. Consider switching to a more competitive strategy to win the Buy Box more often.
- Costs not entered? Listings without cost data don't appear in this report at all. Use the Import module to bulk-upload your costs and unlock full profitability tracking.
- Fee estimates seem off? These are estimates based on product category and dimensions. For exact fee calculations, cross-reference with your channel's official payment or settlement reports.
- Compare across channels. Use the channel filter at the top of the report to compare profitability across different sales channels or regions. The same product might have very different margins due to different fee structures.
